A public meeting was held in the village hall on 2nd October 2021 to brief the community on the recommendations for affordable housing in the parish. The aim of the presentation was to gain support for the Community Land Trust’s work which supported and led to the recommendations for the site and the number of houses required. The meeting was proceeded by an AGM which approved the fiscal accounts and made appointments to the board which are detailed elsewhere on the website.
The public meeting was given a presentation which reminded the audience of the role and powers of a Community Land Trust (CLT), took them through what the CLT had achieved to date and, in detail, explained the assessments made and facts considered to decide on the recommendations. They were for 9 affordable homes on the High Street site. The meeting overwhelmingly supported the recommendations.
Throughout it was stressed that no developer is able to use this information to launch a market planning application. The CLT has conducted its own Housing Needs Survey, which was independently validated. The CLT owns the Intellectual Property Rights and no analysis will be published until we put in our planning application. Without that analysis a developer has no grounds for a market development with associated affordable housing.
